Josefiina Vannesluoma is a jazz vocalist and composer from Turku, Finland, who draws inspiration from languages, visual arts, and café culture.
Her musical expression reflects a broad-minded approach and a fascination with styles ranging from jazz traditions and Brazilian music to contemporary classical and free improvisation. Her debut solo album, The Mortal Lease (Flame Jazz Records, 2023), was recognized with a Jazz Album of the Year nomination at the Emma Gala and received excellent reviews in the Finnish media. In addition to Mortal Lease, Vannesluoma leads the vocal ensemble Signe, which has also earned Emma and Teosto Prize nominations and for which she composes and writes lyrics. Vannesluoma’s pure upper register can also be heard on Heräämisen valkea myrsky ("The White Storm of Awakening"), the award-winning album by Mikko Sarvanne Garden, which won the 2023 Teosto Prize.
