Joonas Widenius is a jazz and world music guitarrist, band leader and composer. Widenius was awarded the culture prize of his hometown Tornio in 2019. In addition to his own compositions, his active solo repertoire consists of the flamenco tradition, without forgetting the Nordic melodies. Widenius' skills also amazed the tour manager of the flamenco guitar virtuoso Paco de Lucia, who was enthusiastic to write about him in the words:

"I am very surprised to hear such an Authentic Flamenco feeling from the north of Europe. Joonas Widenius really has a Spanish heart!”

As a soloist, he has performed widely, either solo or with his trio from clubs to festivals (e.g. Finland, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Russia). Widenius has composed and arranged music for numerous different parties. Widenius performs as a duo with flamenco singer Anna Murtola, and as a trio with percussionist Karo Sampela and bassist Tarmo Anttila.
