Saxophonist Jari Perkiömäki (b. 1961) is a highly respected jazz musician. He successfully combines all levels of musicianship in his career. On stage he is a fine sounding saxman, as a composer he feels mostly home with modern bebop flavour and as an educator and Doctor of Music he leads the Sibelius Academy jazz department in Helsinki, Finland.

His experience, talent and continuous curiosity to discover makes him a true influencer in jazz both in Finland and internationally. Perkiömäki has received the most respected Finnish jazz award Georgie (Yrjö) Award in 2005. He was also awarded with the Pekka Pöyry Award of Finnish Saxophone Society in 1985.
