Jan-Olof Strandberg started his studies in the beginning of 70s at Oulunkylä Pop/Jazz school and continued at Helsinki Conservatory playing double bass. His career started in the 70s at the Rauli Badding Somerjoki band. In 1977 he started his first own band "Funky President" together with "Right-Hand" Hänninen.
In the 1980s Strandberg played bass at the Steel City band. In 1983 he found a band called F&F together with Hänninen, soloist was Bianca Morales. In the end of 1980s Strandberg played together with harmonica-player Pepe Ahlqvist.
In the 1990s Strandberg started his solo career. His first album “At The Music Box” was released in 1995. In 1997 Rauno Nieminen & Jan-Olof Strandberg created an acoustic bass guitar that was produced and distributed worldwide by Landola guitars. The instrument was in production for a few years.
At the moment the most known band of Strandberg is Strandberg Project. Its music builds on 70s progressive jazz-rock and blues, with plenty of room for improvisation. They have released ten records and are regularly featured by international and Finnish top artists.
