Saxophone player, composer and producer Antti Hynninen (b. 1980) is a Finnish jazzmusician. Hynninen graduated as a music pedagog from the Pop & Jazz Conservatory in 2006 but continued his studies at the jazz department of Sibelius Academy in 2010. While studying he works as a full-time musician and composer and leads his respected bands, Auteur Jazz and Rime. Hynninen has also worked as a sideman to i.a. Tuomo Prättälä, Tuomari Nurmio, The Irrationals, Janna Hurmerinta, Felix Zenger and Ricky-Tick Big Band. He is also an extremely popular performer among the Finnish dj scene and has been touring with several djs around Finland.
Hynninen has become familiar to the public also as a versatile producer who masters several music styles. Something about his versatility tells the difference between his two bands Rime and Auteur Jazz. Our Kingdom, the debut album of Rime that was released in Germany in 2011, presented electronic soulmusic, whereas Auteur Jazz plays more traditional jazz. On the debut album of Auteur Jazz, Aphorisms (2009), Hynninen played almost all the instruments by himself. Aphorisms was a nominee for the Jazz-Emma Award in 2009 and on the same year the album was awarded with the Record of the Year in the Funky Awards.
In recent years Hynninen has been a really busy musician and has found time to play on almost 40 albums and produce 4 records and numerous amount of vinyl and digital singles with a stagename Rebeat. This saxophonist works as an active theatremusic composer as well: he has composed music for over 20 circus, dance and theatre plays.
In 2006 Hynninen was awarded with the Nokia Young Talent grant.
