Einoa's Yölauluja invites listeners on an intimate journey into the world of nocturnal atmospheres through the texts of the national poet.

Einoa's Yölauluja EP offers listeners a unique musical experience that combines the power of poetry and music. The compositions of the EP are by Elina Arlin, and the arrangements are Einoa's own work, except for the "fugue" at the end of the song Yö, which is composed by Henri Mäntylä.

The leading track of the EP, Ääniä kuutamoyön, is a wistful love story that traverses the realm between melancholy and hope. The text has been previously recorded by vocal ensemble Rajaton under the title Me kuljemme kaikki kuin sumussa täällä. Einoa's version of Eino Leino's well-known poem has been infused with a new country groove that reflects the theme of shadows and light in Leino's verse.

Leino has been a strong presence in Elina Arlin's life since childhood, and she feels closer to her roots through Leino's poems. Yölauluja invites listeners to explore the deep emotional resonance and timeless themes of Leino's poetry.

"My deceased grandparents admired him a lot. My grandfather bought all of Eino Leino's poetry collections with his first salary. My grandmother was the biggest role model in my life, and she admired Leino very much," Arlin explains.

The compositions of the EP were created in the spring of 2023 at an Airbnb residency in Turku, where Arlin escaped the hustle and bustle of everyday life to create her music. Yölauluja reflects the inspiration and creative flow that often overtakes a musician at night. The band meticulously worked on the songs before entering the studio in the spring of 2023, and each musician contributed their own touch to the creation of the music.

The EP was recorded by Jyri Sariola at Mimix Studio, and mastering was done by Virtalähde Mastering. The imagery was crafted by Tuomas Timonen, capturing the atmosphere and mistiness of the night. The photos were taken in August 2023 under the awning of the Helsinki City Theatre in heavy rain.
