Biography

Sammal is chamber trio Puhti's debut album.

Puhti is a new "chamberlike" band with two woodwinds and cello, formed by Pepa Päivinen, Jorma Tapio and Juho Kanervo.

The musicians of the band have strong backround in jazz, improvised music and classical music. Pepa Päivinen and Jorma Tapio have common playing history already in the legendary Edward Vesala’s Sound and Fury in the 1980s. 

The music of the band is colourful and interesting, ranging from strictly composed material to intuitive improvisation. All the composition are by the band. Different woodwind instruments make the trio’s sound rich and dynamic.
