Quarantine Music 1 is the first release of Tuomo Prättälä's project under quarantine times and also the first album of Prättälä's own label Polygamy Records. The album features guests artists guitarist Jarmo Saari, rapper Tommy Lindgren and percussionist Aarne Riikonen.

Quarantine Music 1 features a selection of Tuomo's songs released throughout the spring on his Bandcamp site. After the outbreak of the pandemic, Tuomo sequestered himself in his work studio. Through synthesizer jam sessions, musical experimentation and diary-like musings on the pandemic new normal, 24 songs were born, five of which will be released now as an EP in digital form. The Bandcamp digital EP will also feature a new, previously unreleased bonus track.

"After the COVID-19 situation began looking serious and the restrictions were put in place, making music turned from a past-time into a form of crisis therapy", says Tuomo of the process. The songs selected for the EP speak of i.a. antibodies, fear, essential workers, the difficulties of staying at home and going outside and the anxiety of losing one's favourite café. "The idea was to gather a diary-like collection of songs during the pandemic", Tuomo says. Prättälä did not set boundaries for the genre of music he wanted to work in, and so Quarantine Music 1 plays with soul, hip hop and jazz as well as with the electronic soundscapes of synthesizers.

Tuomo composes, plays, sings, produces and mixes the songs himself, and the EP will feature also guitarist Jarmo Saari, rapper-songwriter Tommy Lindgren from Don Johnson Big Band and percussionist Aarne Riikonen. The ongoing Quarantine Music project has acted as the catalyst for Prättälä's own new label Polygamy Records.

Tuomo Prättälä (b. 1979) is a jazz, soul and pop composer, singer, pianist and keyboard player. Under the name Tuomo, Prättälä has released four solo albums and has made a seminal career in the Finnish jazz and pop music scene since the beginning of 2000s. Prättälä has been part of such ensembles as Tuomo & Markus, Quintessence, Ilmiliekki Quartet, Emma Salokoski Ensemble, MP4 and The Northern Governors. With the Tuomo & Markus band, Prättälä has toured and recorded in North America and has opened i.a. for the band Wilco.
