Biography

Sointi Jazz Orchestra's sixth studio album Jäähyväiset (Goodbyes) consists of eight compositions by the band's founder Rasmus Soini.

Jäähyväiset expands the boundaries of traditional jazz orchestral expression with interesting instrumentation and magnificent mixes. Influences from different musical styles can be heard as the band explores the limits of jazz orchestral music and beyond. SJO's trademark colorful arrangements and abundant use of replacement instruments are also strongly present on the new album.

The compositions have been inspired by the wonders of nature and the conflicting relationship between nature and humans. The 17-member Sointi Jazz Orchestra lineup is joined by guests Lauri Wuolio (cupola), Nihkee (spoken word) and Aili Ikonen (vocals).
