Finnish record label Eclipse Music releases the debut of Kaisa’s Machine on 7 December 2017. This young quartet, led by double-bassist Kaisa Mäensivu, is composed of some of the most interesting upcoming young musicians in the Finnish jazz scene. Mikael Myrskog on piano, Max Zenger on alto saxophone, Jonatan Sarikoski on drums with Kaisa Mäensivu on bass are responsible for the sizzlingly energetic sound of the album. The disc comprises a landscape of beautiful melodies, fascinating harmonic colours and fiery solos from all the band members.

The album consists Mäensivu’s original compositions that came into being during the past three years spent mostly in New York, her current home city. All six compositions on the album have a distinctive sound, yet leaving plenty of room for musical communication and improvisation.

Kaisa Mäensivu is a Manhattan School of Music graduate, and she has been performing and recording in Finland and abroad in a number of projects. She is an award-winning composer and performer (e.g. Esko Linnavalli Big Band Composition Contest, Kauko Viitamäki Award). Her first band project under her own name, Kaisa’s Machine, was founded in 2015 and the band has performed at all major Finnish jazz festivals.

The official album launch parties will be held in Kulttuuriravintola Kivi, Tampere, on 19 December, and in Tenho, Helsinki on 17 December. In April 2018 the group will hit the road on an album release tour with ten shows around Finland and one in Tallinn, Estonia.
