Vapaat äänet (Free Voices & Sounds) agency has animated the Finnish jazz scene with a French touch since 1996, when manager Charles Gil first started the Finnish-French culture exchange by bringing French bands to perform in Finland and vice versa. In 2016 Vapaat äänet celebrates its 20th anniversary. In the peak of the festivities are two concerts in Malmitalo the 1st of November and in Sellosali the 3rd of the month.
Vapaat äänet has produced multi-cultural tours and concerts in France and in the Nordic countries since year 1996. Now it's time to celebrate the two decades of musical fireworks that the mainly improvisation-based programme has brought to our enjoyment.
Like the tour productions in the past decades, the jubileum concerts are also produced in co-operation of the French Culture Institute and Finnish Jazz Federation - of which the latter celebrates its 50-year-anniversary this year!
