UMO Jazz Orchestra to revive the New Yorker 'Monday jazz' tradition in Finland

entry-image

UMO starts the big band Mondays at the Koko Jazz Club in February. This is the first time for the no 1 Finnish big band to perform at the club.

Monday Night Jazz series at Koko Jazz Club draws its inspiration from New York City, where Monday was a day off for the Broadway musicians who were on the contract in the orchestra pit. On Mondays they were free to play jazz with their colleagues at the local joints.
