UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra’s artistic director and main conductor Ed Partyka has his handprint on UMO’s program for spring 2020. Partyka has created the outlines of the program, and also arranges and orchestrates music for concerts that are conducted by him. Partyka’s compositions are heard in many concertrs as well.
Ed Partyka is a USA-born trombonist, composer, arranger, and conductor. He has collaborated with a number of renowned European big bands and several other projects and leads his own group, the Ed Partyka Jazz Orchestra.
The highlight of the spring is the Great Voices concert series where UMO Helsinki performs with rising star soloists all around the world. March 27th USA-born jazz singer and songwriter China Moses arrives and April 23th British-Nigerian soul singer and songwriter Ola Onabulé visits.
In March UMO performs at Savoy JAZZFest together with Brasilian Joyce Moreno. This spring UMO visits several times at Helsinki and Tampere G Livelab concerts.
