Uuden Musiikin Orkesteri or UMO will celebrate Lasse Mårtenson’s 80th anniversary by giving a concert at Savoy Theatre in October.

Lasse Mårtenson is known as a versatile talent. A pianist, composer, lyricist, arranger and conductor, Mårtenson has been a major and long-standing presence in the world of entertainment both in the limelight and behind the scenes. However, Mårtenson sees himself first and foremost as a jazzer. In the anniversary concert, UMO will play Mårtenson’s best-loved pieces, such as Myrskyluodon Maija, Kaikki paitsi purjehdus on turhaa, Laiskotellen and Kaikessa soi blues, in jazzy arrangements. The set list includes a number of his personal jazz favourites from over the years.
UMO will be joined by several soloists such as pianist-conductor Olli Ahvenlahti, vocalists Mikael Konttinen, Sofia Finnilä and Annimaria Rinne – and Mårtenson himself on the piano.
