Among other great talents, UMO hosts the visit of Grammy winning vocalist Kurt Elling. Elling visited Finland in 2011 and had a sold-out concert at Savoy Theatre in Helsinki. Now there will be two concerts: Wednesday 26th February at Savoy Theatre in Helsinki and the next day, Thursday 27th February at Espoo Cultural Centre.

Grammy winner Kurt Elling, one of the world’s foremost jazz vocalists, will be featuring UMO Jazz Orchestra in February. Elling’s rich baritone spans four octaves and features both astonishing technical mastery and emotional depth. His repertoire includes original compositions and modern interpretations of standards, all of which are springboards for improvisation, scatting, spoken word and poetry.

Saint Louis Blues and Beyond – UMO Plays Bob Brookmeyer
UMO digs deep into the work of composer and arranger Bob Brookmeyer (1929-2011). The concert features timeless jazz for a large orchestra from one of the industry’s most important trendsetters. Note! A pre-concert talk will be held in the café at the concert venue 45 min before the concert.

Jimi Tenor, composer and multi-instrumentalist who has inspired a lasting cult following, and UMO Jazz Orchestra will be joining forces. Tenor describes the concert in his own words as ”some sort of a hippie-afro-jazz-explosion”.

In the spring 2014 UMO and Club For Five will step in the swinging shoes of big band legend Glenn Miller and vocal group The Modernaires. This nostalgic concert features such classics as Jukebox Saturday Night, Tuxedo Junction and Blues in the Night.

Ville ja Valle – UMO feat. Johanna Försti
Ville ja Valle is a colourful children’s music production based on the classic children’s album Muusa ja Ruusa created by Eero Koivistoinen in 1972. The production includes new versions of favourite settings of the poetry of Kirsi Kunnas as well as brand new songs.
