Gems of big band music made famous by the legendary orchestras of Duke Ellington and Count Basie will be heard on Friday April 21 in Logomo's Teatro hall. Turku Jazz Orchestra's own top musicians play the main roles in the concert.
The artistic director of Turku Jazz Orchestra, Ville Vannemaa, has put together a set of big band gems for the April concert. The program is both entertaining and captivating to listen to as well as thought provoking. In the 1950s and 1960s, the legendary duo Duke Ellington & Billy Strayhorn, as well as Count Basie's collaborators Neal Hefti and Sammy Nestico, composed polished masterpieces that are guaranteed to keep the audience enthralled.
