One of Finland’s foremost jazz artists, Timo Lassy, continues to garner international acclaim for his newest release, Love Bullet. Timo Lassy Band will appear on stage with guests this Sunday at Helsinki’s Tavastia as the closing act for the We Jazz 2015 festival.
Saxophonist Timo Lassy’s newest album, Love Bullet, has been pulling the artist compellingly towards bigger and bigger leagues ever since its release last May. Last Sunday Lassy, one of Finland’s brightest jazz stars, received yet another feather to his cap when the influential British media, The Sunday Times, picked the album among the ten best jazz albums of 2015 in its latest issue. Lassy toured in the UK with his band for the first time earlier this year, performing at the Brecon Jazz Festival and in London. The group also gave a live session for the popular lifestyle magazine Monocle. On the upcoming Sunday, 13 December, Timo Lassy Band will appear as the closing act of the We Jazz 2015 festival, with guests trumpeter Jukka Eskola and vibeist Panu Savolainen, who also play on the acclaimed latest release.
Issued on German label Membra’s sublabel, Must Have Jazz, Love Bullet is Lassy’s fourth studio album. The album was released in last May to great acclaim in both Finland and abroad, and it has made to the playlists of French and German radio stations. Lately Lassy’s name also appeared for the second time on the jazz bible Down Beat’s list of rising stars.
