The art music festival, organized for the fourth time, will ring classically with a jazz twist from 24 to 27 August 2023, and will show a film on the topic: "how food would sound if it were music".

Kumaus is organized in Lappeenranta on the last weekend of August, 24–27 August 2023. Like last year, the festival gets off to a flying start at Kulttuuritila Nuijamies on Thursday August 24, when British director Peter Strickland's absurd film Flux Gourmet about food sound art will be screened.

The festival gets into full swing on Friday, when the famous artist line-up is all out at the opening concert, Osa I, at Kulttuuritila Nuijamies. The continuation of Friday's concert will be spent relaxing in Nuijamies' lobby, sipping your favorite drinks.

Finnish jazz legend, vibraphonist Arttu Takalo will be a guest at the main concert on Saturday evening together with Finnish-Estonian jazz singer Kadi Vija. On Saturday, Kumaus can also be heard and seen in Sataman valot as well as in the atmospheric late-night church concert at Maria's Church in Lappee at 21:00.

Tickets for the concerts are sold by liveto.io and Nuijakahvila. There is free admission to some concerts.

Kumaus Festival is a festival located on the shore of the Lake Saimaa in southeastern Finland city of Lappeenranta. Kumaus has shaken up the Finnish festival field since the year 2019. The approach of the festival is strictly with the new generation of musicians, with the aim of breaking the traditional, building the new and creating an event of its own kind in the already undeniably wide range of festivals in Finland.

The core of the festival consists of Lappeenranta city orchestra's double bassist Helka Seppälä and percussionist Lauri Pekkarinen, as well as Lappeenranta-born accordion artist and conductor Janne Valkeajoki. Equally at the center of the festival is the "base" of the event, the artist-run cultural space Nuijamies.
