Porvoo Jazz Clubs return from their summer break next Friday, September 6th. In the familiar atmosphere of Vanha 123, you will hear the freshly released music of Mikko Hassinen's Future Food Factory.

Award-winning percussionist Mikko Hassinen returns to small ensemble music, inspired by his youthful and talented band. The broad and layered wind orchestration of his previous album Espoo Big Band: Blood Red, which received five stars from Helsingin Sanomat, transforms in Future Food Factory's music into an intimate and focused vibration of a small collective, where acoustic jazz takes on an electric layer.

The band's debut album will be released this September, and Porvoo Jazz Club is honored to host the album release concert! Future Food Factory is an album where composer Mikko Hassinen attempts to musically depict his complex relationship with nature. The music is primarily acoustic and breathing, but despite the principle of acoustic sound, the album has an electric touch. Many of the tracks have layers that deviate from traditional quartet jazz, added during post-production. The recorded material has been modified and processed. What began as an acoustic album gradually transforms into something else.

Mikko Hassinen has had a long and impressive career, for which he has been awarded the Teosto Prize for the album Electro GT (2015), the Esko Linnavalli Composition Award (2009), and the Yrjö Award (2021). The Yrjö Award jury aptly described Hassinen: "He has had an extensive career as a drummer, conductor, composer, arranger, and producer. His musical spectrum ranges from acoustic jazz to world music and all the way to more modern electronic expression."
