To celebrate the International Jazz Day, Finnish Air Force Big Band releases a video on 30th April at 5pm together with six other military big bands. The song that is performed is "I'll Be Seeing You" by Glenn Miller, which was released for the first time during the second world war to bring hope of re-uniting the groups from the battle field.
The video includes Air Force Big Band players music major Juha Ketola (trumpet), sergeant major Jussi Kosonen (trombone solo) and sergeant Sauli Hämäläinen (piano and opening greetings). Other military bands are from Australia, Brazil, England, Japan, Germany and USA. The video is organized by US Air Force Big Band, Airmen of Note.
Airmen of Note was ment to arrive in Finland in May to tour together with Finnish Air Force Big Band in Helsinki, Lahti and Jyväskylä. Due to the corona virus, the tour was cancelled.
"To cancel the visit and tour of Airmen of Note was a huge set-back to us, but now to be released video conveys the cultural meeting and the uniting power of music in this challenging situation around the world", music major Ketola explains.
The video is released in the Facebook accounts of all orchestras included on 30th April at 5pm (Finnish time). Link here: https://www.facebook.com/ilmavoimiensoittokunta
The video will be also released on TheUSAFBand YouTube channel on 1st May at 7am.
