The last week of September sees the annual Lahti Jazztori, held since 1989. This year’s versatile programme of rhythm music offers concerts around the city, maintains the big band traditions and shows jazz films among other entertainments.
In the manner of last year, the festival is arranged in cooperation with several producers. The city of Lahti takes part in supporting the event. Lahti Big Band ry as the beneficiary of the festival produces three concerts with its partners. Other producer quarters are Möysä musaklubi, Lahti Public Library, and restaurant Tirra. The films are showed in cooperation with Reel Lahti. Other venues have a possibility join under the umbrella after the release of the base-programme.
The programme is a combination of club gigs and concert events. Sam Huber and his U.S. musicians are seen at the festival as a part of their record release tour, while William Suvanne’s Chess ‘n’ Jazz represents the tours supported by the Jazz Finland. Lahti Big Band with its soloist perform on the Friday night, Osmo Ikonen (photo) is heard as the guest star of the concert. Some of the events are admission free.
