Sointi Jazz Orchestra continues its series of spring streaming concerts with music by Timo Alakotila.

Timo Alakotila (b.1959) is a versatile musician-composer, whose nuanced music combines fascinating harmonies, melodies of folk music and peculiar rhythms. The concert, dedicated to the production of Alakotila, will feature the multi-part Sinfonia Concertante composed for big band and accordion, with accordionist Kaisa Ristiluoma as soloist. In addition, the band will perform a production composed by Alakotila for the big band and a completely new work commissioned for Sointi Jazz Orchestra.

Tune in to the concert atmosphere in advance by listening to the second episode of the orchestra's Sointi-klubi podcast, where Panu Savolainen's guest is composer-pianist Timo Alakotila. There will be a discussion about Sinfonia Concertante, among other topics.
