On Saturday 19th September, the long wait will be rewarded and the premiere concert of Sointi's Kapina ('rebellion') will fill the Kapsäkki Music Theater with completely new music.
In the concert, Sointi Jazz Orchestra gets to dive into the world of works composed specifically for the orchestra and its exceptional instrumentation. In their works, the composers of the concert deal with rebellion through musical means and respond to the orchestra’s “rebellion challenge” in their own way. Rebellion can be a small simmering spark or a loud ascent to the barricades, and in the history of music it has manifested itself in the most diverse ways, from provocative punk to meditative minimalism. The premiere of the concert violates the traditions of big band music and creates something completely new.
The concert will feature works by composers Tytti Arola, Teemu Eerola, Joonas Leppänen, Aleksis Liukko, Henri Lyysaari, Tomi Nikku, Mikko Sarvanne, Selma Savolainen, Pekka Seppänen and Rasmus Soini.
