Saxophonist Pauli Lyytinen to issue his debut on 11 March

Pauli Lyytinen Machinery boldly reinvents the sounds and techniques of the saxophone.

Pauli Lyytinen (b. 1983) has already proven to be an innovative sax player in such groups as Elifantree, Raoul Björkenheim Ecstacy and Mikko Innanen 10+. Now, on his first solo album, he pushes his musicianship and his instrument to new limits. The debut Pauli Lyytinen Machinery will be available in digital format and on CD+DVD. The DVD film beautifully captures Lyytinen's intense live recording sessions and his captivating sonic worlds.

This is not the first time that Pauli Lyytinen has experimented with new ways of playing his instrument. The three Elifantree albums show him to be capable of turning his saxophone into three different instruments at least. He plays the bass lines, creates harmony and flies into the occasional solo, all of this with an astonishing knack for groovy rhythms. Machinery takes all of this, the musician and the instrument, to another level. This time Lyytinen stands alone but creates complete musical worlds acoustically and with a clever use of electronic effects.

The album has been recorded live with no overdubs of any kind. Sigurdur Rögnvaldsson, Lyytinen's musical partner in such bands as Equally Stupid and DEFEKT, together with his partner Cansu A-R have captured Lyytinen's performances into a beautiful DVD film. The DVD includes all the tracks of the album.

Pauli Lyytinen Machinery will be touring Finland and Estonia in March on a Finnish Jazz Federation tour.
