This year's Savoy JAZZFest offers a diverse program also on International Women's Day.
On Friday at 17:45, in the restaurant Minne located next to Savoy Theatre, a panel discussion on gender equality in the jazz field will take place. The discussion will feature Director of the Jazz Federation Maria Silvennoinen, Director of UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra Henriika Steidel-Luoto and musician and Artistic Director of Savoy JAZZFest Kaisa Mäensivu. The panel will be moderated by music journalist Laura Korhonen. Admission to the discussion is free. Learn more here.
At 19:00, the two-part concert of the evening will begin, starting with the young vibraphonist star Sasha Berliner and her band. After the intermission, the stage will be taken over by UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra featuring the amazing interpreter Gretchen Parlato, one of the world's most respected jazz vocalists. Tickets are priced at 37-77 €, with a discount of 15 € available for students and music industry professionals (discount card must be presented at the time of purchase).
Around 21:45, the afterparty will kick off in the restaurant Minne, featuring performances by the top Finnish pianist Riitta Paakki and her trio. Admission to the afterparty is free.
