Savoy JAZZFest, which is held for the fourth time, will feature an inspiring program full of top musicians of the jazz world in Helsinki from 2 to 6 March 2022. The festival will feature the debut of Pete Parkkonen Jazz Orchestra and the international top names Vijay Iyer, Christian McBride and Inside Straight, Artemis, Manu Katché “Scope”, Nicholas Payton Trio and Rebekka Bakken + UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra.
Savoy JAZZFest 2022 will start with a special concert on Wednesday, March 2, on the shores of Töölönlahti. For the first time, the charismatic singer Pete Parkkonen will perform with a jazz orchestra consisting of top Finnish musicians at the Show & Dinner evening, which is organized in cooperation with Finlandia Hall.
On Thursday 3 March the festival continues at the Savoy Theater, which features a multinational super-band Artemis composed entirely of female musicians.
On Friday 4 March master drummer Manu Katché will perform at the Savoy Theater. Katché joins the Savoy JAZZFest with his Scope Quartet, which includes bassist Jérôme Regard, guitarist Patrick Manouguian, and keyboardist Jim Herderson.
UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra will also perform on Friday night together with Norwegian vocalist Rebekka Bakken. In the joint concert, Bakken joins the big band to interpret Tom Waits' production.
On Saturday 5 March the festival will feature Vijay Iyer, arguably one of the most significant jazz pianists of the moment, performing at Savoy JAZZFest as part of his latest album UnEasy. Drummer Tyshawn Sorey and bassist Linda May Han Oh play alongside Iyer on both the album and the stage of the Savoy Theater.
Savoy JAZZFest, which will be held for the fourth time in 2022, is one of the most important jazz events in the capital region, with a program showcasing big names and rising stars of international jazz. The main partner of the event is Hotel Haven.
