Due to a huge demand, the 20-piece gives two album-launching concerts on Saturday 10 October.
The afternoon concert starts at 3:00PM and the evening concert at 7:00PM. There is only a handful left of nearly 1,500 tickets to the latter concert.
“It’s really astonishing that the place is as good as sold out almost six months before the gig”, says Tommy Lindgren joyfully. “I would guess that not too many Finnish jazz groups have been able to draw a full house at Kultsa before – at least not twice on the same day. We can hardly contain ourselves! I wish it were autumn already.”
Kulttuuritalo main stage with 1448 seats is thus far the biggest venue in which the twenty-piece has performed. Concerts without age limits had been voiced by the audience and the group wanted to respect this wish, since there are many minors and children among their fans.
Composer-guitarist Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen promises that the show will be ‘epic’: “We will be playing mainly new material but of course the set list contains a few hits from the debut, such as ‘Se On Jatsii’ and ‘Ei Tunnu Missään’”.
The group toured Finland around the time of their debut album extensively, playing almost twenty gigs at clubs and festivals (including Ruisrock, Pori Jazz, Flow Festival, April Jazz and Tavastia-klubi) and performed as the main act on the opening night of Germany’s celebrated moers festival, focused on new European jazz.
The recording sessions of the new album have now been wrapped up and the disc is due out in the autumn. The first single “Talutushihnassa” was released a month ago and it has already been remixed by Alex Mattson.
