Master guitarist Raoul Björkenheim releases a new album with his trio Raoul Björkenheim Triad on 21 April. The disc will be released in Germany and central Europe in May.

Björkenheim is a great presence in the Finnish music scene and has made an impressive career both in Europe and North America. With his rhythm section Ilmari Heikinheimo on the drums and Ville Rauhala on the bass, the trio delivers a stand-out piece with Beyond.
Raoul Björkenheim has been familiar name in the jazz/experimental scene with his fiery guitar-playing since the early 80s. He is known from various bands, including Krakatau, Scorch Trio, Ecstasy and the duo Heim(o), with Heikinheimo on the drums in the last-mentioned. Triad, however, makes everything bigger, bolder and more experimental: a "spectacular mayhem" of sounds. Ilmari Heikinheimo is a widely recognized drummer collaborating with many household names in the Finnish music scene. Ville Rauhala has performed professionally since the 90s (with Black Motor and many other groups) and his bass-playing has a unique touch of soloist and structural elements. Beyond is a strong statement from Triad – a unique musical journey into sounds and textures, bold and raw.
Raoul Björkenheim Triad is on tour with Beyond in November. They will also be performing at the hugely popular Pori Jazz Festival on 13 July.
