Led by acclaimed guitarist Raoul Björkenheim (Sound & Fury, Krakatau, UMO), Raoul Björknheim Ecstacy issues their sophomore album on 16 October. The recording, "Out of the Blue", comes out on American label Cuneiform and it can be described as a follow-up to the self-titled debut. In other words, we are in for a cocktail of free improvisation and rocking energy.
Out of the Blue is mainly composed of two kinds of tracks: shorter tunes with a more conventional structure and long, improvised pieces. The leader’s raw guitar-playing is complemented by the Yrjö-winning Markku Ounaskari (Tomasz Stanko, Marc Ducret, Kenny Wheeler, Pekka Pohjola) on the drums, top saxophonist Pauli Lyytinen (Elifantree, Kauhukakara, Equally Stupid) and bassist Jori Huhtala (Panu Savolainen Toivo, Dave Liebman, Jukkis Uotila Band etc.). This ensemble if any is able to touch with exquisitely beautiful moments and surprise with primal energy.
