The Porvoo Jazz Festival, taking place from September 26-29, is collaborating for the first time with the prestigious audio company Genelec. During the festival, the concert halls of Vanha 123 will be equipped with high-quality Genelec speakers specifically selected for the venue, aiming to elevate the live experience and deliver top-tier jazz with exceptional sound quality. For the duration of the festival, the halls will be renamed Genelec Lab 1 & 2, befitting the grandeur of the WSOY building’s stone walls, which house the heart of the Porvoo Jazz Festival. Vanha 123, with its three 100-seat halls, serves as a versatile cultural hub in the center of Porvoo.
Genelec is an innovative Finnish family business that adheres to the principles of sustainability and is built on respect and a passion for accurate sound. The audio setup for both halls includes two S360A speakers, with bass frequencies handled by a 7380A subwoofer.
During the Porvoo Jazz Festival, Vanha 123 will offer audiences a double experience with a single ticket. The performances will begin simultaneously in the Genelec Lab halls 1 and 2, and after the concert, the audience will switch halls to enjoy the second act of the evening. This year, Vanha 123 will host the festival’s most international ensemble, Expandia (DE/US/FI), and the Joonatan Henriksson Quintet, who recently won the Taimi Award on Friday. On Saturday, the stage will feature the Danish-Estonian ensemble led by the clear-voiced Karmen Rõivassepp and the top Finnish duo Lampen, composed of Tatu Rönkkö and Kalle Kalima.
Now in its 12th year, the Porvoo Jazz Festival takes place in downtown Porvoo. In addition to Vanha 123, concerts will also be held at the new venue, Vanha Pantteri, where artists like Arppa and Dalindéo will perform, as well as at the Porvoo Art Hall.
