Legendary singer-songwriter Hector's life’s work will be celebrated at Pori Jazz next summer. The concert, called Hector Reimagined, will feature both Hector himself and a top band led by Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen, who will present the new arrangements envisioned by Pöyhönen from Hector's extensive body of work. Pori Jazz's program has also announced additions with other Finnish performers.

Hector, one of the biggest names in Finnish popular music, began his career in the mid-1960s and has released 25 studio albums on five different decades. The artist, known for his numerous immortal hits, has been awarded three Emma awards, the Juha Vainio and Reino Helismaa awards and the Pro Finlandia medal, among others.

A special concert will be heard at Pori Jazz on Friday, July 16th, prepared by the musician-composer Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen, known as a power figure in Dalindéo and Ricky-Tick Big Band. Pöyhönen composes new arrangements of Hector's songs, which are performed in Pori by an ensemble of Finnish front-line musicians.

With Hector Reimagined, Pöyhönen intends to put his imagination to work and approach the songs he has chosen from a new angle. The concert will feature both Hector’s hits and slightly less familiar compositions.

The concert, initiated by Pori Jazz, features both Hector himself and visiting singers as soloists. For Hector, it is also the only performance of the summer.

In addition to Hector Reimagined, Pori Jazz's program will be complemented next year by Vesta, Jesse Markin and Tuomo, as well as the band Quintessence.

Previously announced Pori Jazz performers include John Legend, Emeli Sandé and Chick Corea, among others. A total of 23 performers have been announced for next year, performing at the main concerts of Kirjurinluoto on 15th–17th July.

Pori Jazz will be held for the 55th time from 9th to 17th July 2021.
