Pori Jazz Kids will take place for the 19th time this summer! The festival for the whole family invites all ages to join in the musical fun and the joy of working together. All concerts, workshops and other events are free of charge and accessible to all.

The festival starts on Friday 11 July with a jazz camp. Jazz Camp for Girls, now in its fourth year, aims to inspire young girls to get involved in jazz music. The camp is organised from 11-14 July in cooperation with the Finnish Jazz Federation, Palmgren Conservatory and Pori Jazz and is free of charge for participants. Registration for the camp is open on the Pori Jazz website.

On Monday 14 July, the closing concert of the Jazz Camp for Girls and the Palmgren Conservatory’s Young Talent Showcase will take place at Puuvilla shopping centre, starting at 12 noon. The concert will conclude with a performance by the Park Patrol.

On Wednesday 16 July, the main concert day of Pori Jazz Kids will be held at the Lokkilava in Kirjurinluoto from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children will be entertained by the Palmgren Conservatory’s Musicians, Palmgren Winds, Funky Monkey Club, ZikiZiki and Pikku Papun Orkesteri & UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra.

During the breaks between the musical performances, there will be a varied regional programme, including an experimentation with the Palmgren Conservatory’s wind instruments, diverse activity points of the City of Pori and a circus workshop by Satasirkus. At the library point, there will be a prank ride, a Kennel Club reading dog show and a book point where children’s and youth books and magazines that have been removed from the library will be distributed free of charge.

Pori Jazz Kids attracts around 13 000 visitors each year, most of whom attend the Lokkilava event day. The youngsters range in age from toddlers to younger primary school children and are of course accompanied by parents, grandparents and other close friends.

The Pori Jazz Kids Festival is made possible by KORSI – Eurajoen Säästöpankkisäätiö, Satakunta Osuuskauppa and Svenska Kulturfonden i Björneborg.
