Pori Jazz is spreaded around Kirjurinluoto for the 54th time on July 12th to 20th. In addition to the festival area, there are many high-quality concerts for free at the Jazz Park. The programme of the festival include international and Finnish artist of jazz, soul and funk.
The main concerts of Pori Jazz are held in Kirjurinluoto, Pori on Thursday 18th, Friday 19th and Saturday 20th July. There are several interesting international artists such as Christina Aguilera, Toto, Stray Cats, Melody Gardot and Snarky Puppy, Betty Wright, Tank & The Bangas and Young Gun Silver Fox as well as British Cymade. International jazz scene is among others represented by Idris Ackamoor and the Pyramids and Linda May Han Oh.
Finnish additions to the program include Pyhimys & Saimaa, Kingston Wall by JJylli, Kuoppis & VHB and Ricky-Tick Big Band & Julkinen Sana. Ricky-Tick Big Band’s brass section will also be featured with Timo Lassy, who is one of the brightest stars of Finnish jazz scene. Other Finnish jazz stellar acts include Herd, OK:KO, Superposition! and Mopo. It’ll be the 50th anniversary of the man’s first steps on the Moon and upon request Mopo has prepared a concert inspired by the first Moon landing. Other Finnish additions include Pekko Käppi & K:H:H:L, M and Ina Forsman.
In addition to the main concerts at the Kirjurinluoto Concert Park the festival traditionally offers plenty of admission-free concerts on three stages at the Jazz Park venue presenting interesting artists and ensembles. This summer’s novelty at the Jazz Park is a vast concert tent Poriljonki, which will replace the Park Stage. The Jazz Park will feature almost 50 admission-free concerts during the festival. There’s no age-limit to the Jazz Park but due to alcohol licensing at Poriljonki tent and Kirjurin Kesäravintola restaurant those venues will have an age limit of 18 years starting at 9pm.
