Pet Shop Boys’ DREAMWORLD, The Greatest Hits Live Tour, and singer Jason Derulo will headline next summer’s Pori Jazz. International jazz guests at the Lokkilava Stage include pianist Myra Melford and guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Finnish acts like Verneri Pohjola: Monkey Mind and Lassy-Eskola: Nordic Stew.
Britain’s most renowned duo, Pet Shop Boys, will present their greatest hits at Kirjurinluoto in July. The Pori Jazz concert on Thursday, July 18, is part of Pet Shop Boys’ extensive DREAMWORLD, The Greatest Hits Live Tour. The audience at Kirjurinluoto will hear all 22 of the band’s European Top 10 hits, including iconic songs like “West End Girls”, “It’s A Sin”, “Suburbia”, “Always On My Mind” and “Go West.” Pet Shop Boys’ music has sold over 50 million albums worldwide.
Additionally, on Thursday, July 18, the festival will feature British artist Sophie Ellis-Bextor, known for her hit “Murder on the Dancefloor”, modern piano jazz sensation Myra Melford with the Fire & Water Quintet, and Kurt Rosenwinkel Quartet on “The Next Step Reunion Tour”. Finnish acts such as Lassy-Eskola: Nordic Stew, Inginmaa/Hypnomen, Tinyhawk & Bizarro, and Selma Savolainen in the Shade will also add local flair.
American singer, dancer, and actor Jason Derulo will be the headliner at Pori Jazz’s Kirjurinluoto Concert Park on Friday, July 19. Derulo, who has sold over 250 million singles in his music career, is known for hits like “Want to Want Me”, “Whatcha Say”, “In My Head” and “If I’m Lucky”. Derulo’s music combines pop, R&B, and electronic dance music (EDM).
On Friday, July 19, the festival will also feature American band Knower, along with Finnish acts such as rap artist Jambo and drummer Teppo Mäkynen’s The Stance Brothers project. Olavi Uusivirta, who will only perform two concerts this summer, will be seen with an expanded lineup in Pori.
On Saturday, July 20, the festival will showcase American act Sungazer and Finnish artists including Antti Autio, Verneri Pohjola: Monkey Mind, Olli Ahvenlahti New Quintet, and Anna Puu.
