Flame Jazz will continue online concerts during the spring via the Keikalla.fi service. Friday 23.4. the stage is set by a band led by pianist Aurora Hentunen, whose stories range from sensitive northern tones to deep and dark waves. The concert will be streamed live from Logomon’s Teatro Hall and will be available to watch for seven days.
Founded in 2017, Aurora Hentunen Quartet has risen to the forefront of Nordic jazz music and one of the most interesting domestic jazz ensembles in a few years. The band, which plays modern Finnish jazz, has released two albums, Second Spring (2018) and Frost (2019), which have been very successful both in Finland and abroad. The quartet's third album is now planned.
Aurora Hentunen (b. 1991) is a pianist and composer who currently works in the Amsterdam jazz field. Moving abroad expanded Hentunen’s chances of finding her own way and voice for composing. In her composition, Hentunen is especially inspired by northern nature, and her music also includes influences from different cultures and folk music.
This Friday’s Flame Jazz night will feature stylish compositions, emotional interpretation and surprising improvisation.
”A tasteful album, full of surprises, refreshing arrangements and unexpected moments. A definite touch of ”the Scandinavian”. Well-played by top musicians from the new generation!” – Jasper van’t Hof
The concert will be streamed live from Turku Logomo via the Keikalla.fi service, and the recording of the event can be viewed for 7 days. Due to the corona restrictions in place in Turku at this time, the concert will not admit live audience.
