Nicholas Payton has regrettably had to cancel his European tour and his subsequent performance at Savoy JAZZFest due to a travel problem. Instead of Payton’s trio, Norwegian trumpet player Nils-Petter Molvær’s Stitches line-up will take the stage Saturday 5 March.
The versatile trumpet player and composer Nils-Petter Molvær has become known in the fields of pop, rock and funk, and especially as a master of electroacoustic jazz. At Savoy JAZZFest, he will perform with his line-up created for the album Stitches, which includes Molvær, drummer Erland Dahlen, bassist Jo Berger Myhre and guitarist Johan Lindstrøm. Stitches was recorded during the corona lockdown, and in its music, Molvær’s touching trumpetism encounters dynamic electronic soundscapes. The other festival performer for Saturday 5 March is the trio of acclaimed pianist Vijay Iyer.
Savoy JAZZFest, which will be held for the fourth time in 2022, is one of the most important jazz events in the capital region, with a program showcasing big names and rising stars of international jazz. The main partner of the event is Hotel Haven.
