Naantali, the hometown of the Moomins, is also a home of jazz this weekend as the new festival, Naantali Jazz Weekend, is organised for the first time. The festival occurs at the same time with a more marine happening, namely the Naantali Boat Show.

While Kerava Jazz is already in full swing in the metropolitan area, the audience can enjoy jazz in the seaside landscape of Naantali this weekend, too. Naantali Jazz Weekend, the newcomer among the Finnish summer festivals, brings jazz into local restaurants and the Church Park. The programme consists of six concerts, two of which are gratis.

The festival ends on Sunday at the restaurant Kaivohuone, where Espoo Jazz Trio performs with the dazzling singer-actress of Russian origin, Anastasia Trizna. The trio, founded in 2012, is formed by the three gents Valeri Nikitin (piano), Heikki Sarmanto (double bass) and Pekka Sarras (rummut).

Live jazz will be available in Naantali after the festival, too, as the 35th Naantali Music Festival takes over the town the following week. The programme includes a concert 10 June at Kaivohuone restaurant where vocalist Aili Ikonen performs with trio HERD.
