Frekvenssi dives into the world of experimental music and also brings out the views of artists. The first episodes of the program will be heard in March-April on Sunday nights at Yle Radio 1. The first three episodes can now be listened to at Yle Areena.

Yle Radio 1 will expand its range of experimental music in March when the program Frekvenssi delivered by Matti Nives will premiere on Sundays at 22:00. With his program, Nives presents an open invitation to the audience to a world of new musical adventures. The broad field of experimental music is viewed in particular through electronic music, but instead of genre boundaries, the program offers side steps in many directions by lowering the boundaries between music genres.

Alongside the program, a visual gallery of the music heard will also be built, as Nives promises to post the cover art of each album that plays in the program to a dedicated Instagram account (@frekvenss1).

Matti Nives (b. 1980) is known as the founder and artistic director of the Helsinki-based record label and festival We Jazz. Nives, who started his music career as a DJ in 2005, has done radio work at Bassoradio and Radio Helsinki, where his programs include Jazz kiinnostaa, Matti Nives and Avantgardeyö. Nives is also the artistic advisor for the Helsinki Festival and the program manager of the G Livelab Helsinki Club. In 2011, Yle's Jazzradio awarded Nives the Varjo-Yrjö recognition for his dedication to Finnish jazz culture.
