Markus Pesonen (b. 1984) is a Berlin-based Finnish composer, musician, sound artist and photographer. Pesonen employs an interdisciplinary approach to making art, combining art forms ranging from performing arts to music and visual arts. His new exhibition, "Water", is an audio-visual experience combining image with live music. Café Bar No 9 hosts the exhibition that opened on 9 June and closes on 6 July.
This June, Café Bar No. 9 is filled with water as Markus Pesonen brings image and sound together in his exhibition, Water. The exhibition, consists of Pesonen’s photographs and seven concerts. Pesonen explores the theme, water, and its dynamics and multiform nature through his underwater photographs and his music. The series also looks at the Five Elements of Chinese philosophy; water, fire, earth, wood and metal, in order to go back to the very basic components of nature and to demonstrate their intriguing complexity.
Pesonen is interested in a variety of topics from art, science and spirituality to the current state of our society and ancient and future cultures, searching for linkages between them and representing his findings in his art.
