The entire program of Savoy JAZZFest has now been released: Vijay Iyer, Manu Katché “Scope” and Rebekka Bakken & UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra will join the Savoy JAZZFest 2022 performers. In cooperation with Finlandia Hall the Pete Parkkonen Jazz Orchestra: Dream A Little Dream Of Me special concert on 2 March expands the event to a five-day music festival.
Savoy JAZZFest, which serves world-class jazz, will be held from 2 to 6 March 2022 at the Savoy Theater in Helsinki and at Töölönlahti's new event oasis in Little Finlandia. Previously released artists for the program include Christian McBride and Inside Straight, Nicholas Payton, and Artemis. Trumpeter Jukka Eskola is the artistic director of the festival.
The Savoy JAZZFest program is completed by new world-class acts. On Saturday 5 March the festival will feature Vijay Iyer, arguably one of the most significant jazz pianists of the moment, performing at Savoy JAZZFest as part of his latest album UnEasy. Drummer Tyshawn Sorey and bassist Linda May Han Oh play alongside Iyer on both the album and the stage of the Savoy Theater.
On Friday 4 March master drummer Manu Katché will perform at the Savoy Theater. Katché joins the Savoy JAZZFest with his Scope Quartet, which includes bassist Jérôme Regard, guitarist Patrick Manouguian, and keyboardist Jim Herderson.
UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra will also perform on Friday night together with Norwegian vocalist Rebekka Bakken. In the joint concert, Bakken joins the big band to interpret Tom Waits' production.
Savoy JAZZFest 2022 will start with a special concert on Wednesday, March 2, on the shores of Töölönlahti. For the first time, the charismatic singer Pete Parkkonen will perform with a jazz orchestra consisting of top Finnish musicians at the Show & Dinner evening, which is organized in cooperation with Finlandia Hall.
Savoy JAZZFest, which will be held for the fourth time in 2022, is one of the most important jazz events in the capital region, with a program showcasing big names and rising stars of international jazz. The main partner of the event is Hotel Haven.
