entry-image

The magical sounds of the French saxophone duo Mamie Jotax will return to Finland in late October and early November. The top-tier duo, consisting of Camille Maussion and Carmen Le Francois, will be in an artist residency at the Oulainen Music Weeks from October 28–29, followed by performances in Helsinki on October 30–31, Turku on October 31, Loviisa on November 1, and Tampere on November 2 at the "Baby Jotax" concert.

Mamie Jotax is a fictional character, a kind grandmother from France who loves to paint soundscapes. Saxophone virtuosos Carmen Lefrançois and Camille Maussion join forces in this project, continuously fueling their imaginations. Both have received extensive musical training while cultivating an adventurous spirit. They have drawn influences from around the world, blending genres from jazz to contemporary music and folk to free improvisation. Mamie Jotax was selected for France's prestigious Jazz Migration tour program in 2022.

Mamie Jotax's highly theatrical performances have delighted audiences across Europe and South America. Before visiting Finland, the duo will perform at the Umeå Jazz Festival in Sweden on October 26–27.
