In February, the Linnajazz Club concert series kicks off in Hämeenlinna. Throughout the spring season, there will be gigs once a month until June, and in the fall, from September to December.

The Linnajazz Club concert series in Hämeenlinna is not an entirely new concept but is entering its third year of operation. The club is organized by the Hämeenlinna Music Club.

"Hämeenlinna has been hosting the Linnajazz Festival every summer since 1991. In addition to this fantastic music event, we have successfully been running year-round concert activities for several years now," says Antti Mustakallio, the host of the Linnajazz Club.

"High-quality jazz and rhythm music are reaching increasingly wider audiences in the city, and the club nights are starting to attract regular visitors. The quality programming also draws people from elsewhere," adds Sami Pekkola, the chairman of the Hämeenlinna Music Club.

The winter and spring concerts feature performances by drummer Teppo Mäkynen's The Stance Brothers, Peela, Riitta Paakki Quartet, trumpeter Mikko Karjalainen's quintet, and drummer Thomas Törnroos leading Thomas New Orleans. The established venue for club nights is Suistoklubi, although in June, Thomas New Orleans will perform on the terrace of Vanai restaurant.

"I am very pleased with the program. It includes genuine jazz, a bit more experimental rhythm music, tight fusion, and even some funk. We want to offer the audience a diverse program presented by top musicians," says Antti Mustakallio.

Advance tickets for Linnajazz Club nights are available from Lippu.fi. The remaining tickets are sold at the door before the concert starts. Season tickets, allowing access to all performances, are also available for purchase on concert nights.

The organization of Linnajazz Club is made possible with the support of the City of Hämeenlinna and MES.
