Jukka Perko Tritone goes on Jazz Finland tour in March

Jukka Perko, one of the most prestigious saxophonists in Finland, tours nine cities with his solid partners-in-crime, bassist Antti Lötjönen and drummer Teppo Mäkynen. The dynamic trio’s repertoire comes from their debut album DIzzy, where the saxophonist makes his long-awaited comeback on the American bebop tradition.

Perko’s take on the legendary Dizzy Gillespie’s music is not just a nostalgic history trip, but instead a very personal journey and an incredible story of a small-town farmer’s son making his way to play alongside this world-famous jazz icon. Jukka Perko toured extensively in Gillespie’s band for two years, in 1987 – 1988.

Jukka Perko Tritone was not born just to salute the great Dizzy, but to go beyond a tribute.
”It’s not about what Dizzy’s music means to us. It’s about what new we can add to it, how we can share pieces of our lives through it”, says Perko.
