The summer Jazzpatio, organized in collaboration between Oulu Music Festival and Jumpru Pub, continues its tradition this summer. On Tuesdays from June 11 to August 6, and on Thursday, August 15 during the Night of the Arts, a total of ten jazz bands and artists will perform on the patio of Jumpru Pub. Admission is free.
For the first time performers for the Jazzpatio were selected through an open call held in early 2024. Among those chosen are acts like the Way Out Quartet, who play jazz classics; the rock-infused fusion jazz of Airaniemi/Dahlblom Priority; and jazz renditions of classic video game music by Arcade Invaders.
The summer 2024 season will kick off with the HENRY O SWING TRIO, known for their swing music. Audiences can expect a mix of swing and blues, honoring tradition and groove. The ensemble features the renowned blues musician Henry Ojutkangas along with top Oulu musicians Harri Sarkkinen on double bass and Juuso Kiviniemi on guitar. Their repertoire includes both well-known and lesser-known jazz songs in English and Finnish, including some Frank Sinatra classics.
