Helsinki Jazz Underground collective promotes Finnish jazz both on record and live. Their JazzHUG club nights have been an instant hit and there seems to be no end to the success story so far. JazzHUG presents four monthly duo concerts in the wine bar VinVin in Helsinki center. All the concerts are free of charge.
The JazzHUG series starts on Friday, September 27th with vocalist Aili Ikonen and pianist Jussi Fredriksson. In October the female vocalist theme goes on with singer Susanna Lukkarinen (n. Hietala) and guitarist Teemu Viinikainen. November's jazzhuggers are trumpetist Jukka Eskola, with Mikko Helevä on Hammond by his side. December is dedicated to free improv, brought to you by Kari "Sonny" Heinilä on sax and drummer Jaska Lukkarinen on drums.
VinVin is a cozy organic wine bar opposite to Torni hotel in downtown Helsinki.
