Blues and soul music have traditionally been strong lines at TTT-Klubi. The musical autumn opens grandly with Masa Orpana Honk in a concert that, in part, celebrates the 30-year career of the Tampere saxophonist Matti-Juhani Orpana (September 7). Female voices will have their moments throughout the autumn: the distinctively raspy Marjo Leinonen & BubliCans perform on October 19, Aija Puurtinen showcases various vocal techniques as the lead of Honey B & T-Bones on November 9, and Kat Baloun & The Frostbites deliver a performance with an authentic American accent on November 22.
Jazz is part of the program this time with a small twist. Fans of Sting and The Police might be surprised at how naturally their sophisticated pop songs translate to the language of jazz in the hands of Sofia Finnilä, Risto Toppola, and Mikko Pettinen in the Jazz with Sting concert on November 8. Valtteri Laurell Pöyhönen’s Dalindèo combines jazz with surf rock, cinematic moods, and Latin rhythms on November 29.
Among songwriters of the thirty-something generation, Elias Gould and Pekka Nisu, known from the band Pimeys, perform in a "double bill" concert on September 27. Kaija Kärkinen, who has been building her career for a longer time, performs with her husband Ile Kallio on October 4.
Prog and punk, mentioned in the headline, each get their own slot. First, Wigwam authority Jukka Gustavson, along with his band Street Level, meets top guitarist Ben Granfelt on October 26. A few weeks later, Tumppi Varonen & Problems will bring back memories and new winds of Finnish punk on November 16.
Relying on the power of diversity, TTT-Klubi's program also features rap (Asa Bäänd II on September 21), world music (Jaakko Laitinen & Väärä Raha on September 28), indie (Inginmaa/Hypnomen on November 1), and a tribute concert to one of the unforgettable bands of the 80s (Nothing for Moneys plays Dire Straits on September 24). Johanna Iivanainen and Mikko Iivanainen will lead into the peace of Christmas at the end of the autumn season on December 7.
