Validi Karkia's programme for autumn 2020 begins with Tribute to JK, a celebration of the father figure of Pori's jazz culture, Jyrki Kangas. The two-day event will see Finnish jazz and blues guitar phenomenons Kalle Kalima and Esa Kuloniemi' new ensembles take the stage with their respective album releases, while the second evening will feature JAF Trio lead by Adele Sauros and also pianist Kari Ikonen as a solo act.
The autumn's programme also includes the legendary duo of Dave Holland and John Scofield in October. Both artists made their impacts playing together with Miles Davis since the 60's and 80's, and are pioneers in their own right in the international jazz scene.
In February 2021 Validi Karkia celebrates its 10-year anniversary with concert with another legend, jazz guitarist and composer Bill Frisell. Other programme for 2021 include postponed concerts of Frank Gambale's All Star Band (US/FRA/HU), Charlie Hunter & Lucy Woodward and Nate Wooley Columbia Icefield featuring Mary Halvorson.
