Jazz-Espa concert series will begin 27th July. The week-long program will feature a variety of Finnish jazz ensembles right at the heart of Helsinki on the Espa stage.
The Jazz-Espa concert series, organised annually by Jazz Finland, will go ahead as planned at the Espa Stage between 27 July and 1 August. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, special measures will be in place, ensuring that the event remains safe for both audiences and artists. The Savoy Theatre, the administrative body for the Espa Stage, will resume concert activities at the stage from 1 July onwards.
The Jazz-Espa concert series will present performances from contemporary Finnish jazz ensembles, including i.a. Quartet Ajaton, Aleksi Heinola Quintet, Ismaila Sané Saïsba 6tet, Njet Njet 9, Elifantree, Pauli Lyytinen Magnetia Orkesteri, Kari Antila & Karri Luhtala Organ Brothers, Reiska Laine Quintet, L’Alliance Takalo, Linda Fredriksson & Reporters, Hands and Omens, UNYA and AINON. Due to the special arrangements, some changes have been made to weekday concert schedules, and the new concert starting times are 1pm, 3pm and 5.30pm. The starting time for the middle concert was previously advertised at 4pm, but due to the new requirements the concert will now start an hour earlier. The two Saturday concerts will be on at 12pm and 2pm.
All concerts are free of charge, available for all ages, and fully accessible.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the concerts at the Espa Stage are organised with special considerations to ensure the safety of the audiences, artists, and event staff. The general safety directions for the stage have been compiled by the Savoy Theatre, the administrative body for the Espa Stage. The audience capacity at the stage has been reduced, and the restricted audience area in front of the stage has been capped at a maximum of 100 attendees per concert. Security staff will be in charge of access control, ushering, and maintaining social distancing. The restricted audience area has designated seated and standing areas. In addition, the Jazz-Espa event has compiled detailed safety instructions which are available at the event’s webpage and at the Facebook event page. We kindly ask audiences to familiarise themselves with the safety instructions ahead of the event.
