Jazz City Turku kicks off the autumn season at Bar Ö on Saturday, September 7th, with the album release concert of jazz multi-talent Mikko Hassinen. The season will feature outstanding international guests, a fusion of big band music and opera, and the popular jazz cruise. Free concerts will be offered at Rica Bar's Monday Jazz Happening and in the new after-work jazz series at Logomo’s Teatro.

The autumn Flame Jazz club concerts will, as usual, showcase the most current Finnish music, including album release concerts by Mikko Hassinen Future Food Factory and Jonatan Snapir, both of whom record for Turku’s Flame Jazz Records. The season will also welcome top Finnish artists like Kaisa Mäensivu and Maja Mannila, as well as intriguing international names like singer-pianist Kadri Voorand, bassist Jasper Høiby, and vocalist Cyrille Aimée, who will visit in November with the UMO Helsinki Jazz Orchestra.

Flame Jazz’s new concert venue at Logomo will be the Logi Hall, where four concerts will be held this autumn. "Logi Hall offers more space for lounging, enjoying, and even dancing to the rhythms of the Helsinki-Cotonou Ensemble’s album release concert in November," says producer Sanna Vartiainen.

Turku Jazz Orchestra’s autumn season begins at Sigyn Hall on September 13th with a guest performance by Mikko Innanen, honoring jazz legend Rahsaan Roland Kirk. In October, the orchestra will embark on the Opera Goes Jazz tour with Anna Inginmaa and Waltteri Torikka, and in November, the Turku Concert Hall will host a highly anticipated collaboration between the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and two top pianists, Aki Rissanen and Seppo Kantonen.

Logomo’s Teatro will launch a new Wednesday after-work jazz series this autumn, offering a free, low-threshold jazz afternoon in the Teatro pizzeria once a month. The free Monday Jazz Happening, held in collaboration with the Turku Conservatory, will also return on September 9th at Rica Bar.

Jazz City Turku continues its partnership with the Turku Main Library, offering a borrowable season pass. The Jazz Card can be borrowed for one week and grants entry for two people to Turku Jazz Orchestra's September concert and all Flame Jazz concerts in the autumn season. The Jazz Card does not cover the jazz cruise or events at the Turku Concert Hall and can only be borrowed once during the autumn season.
