Jarmo Saari's 50th anniversary concert Jarmon saarella ("on Jarmo's island") was one of the first events postponed after the closure of Finland on March 12, 2020. The retrospective gala will take place on Saturday, March 19, 2022 and raise funds for Protect Children, an organization that works to prevent sexual violence against children.
Guitarist, composer andmulti-instrumentalist Jarmo Saari's charity gala has been postponed twice due to the coronavirus epidemic. The event was originally scheduled to take place at the Savoy Theater in March 2020.
The program of the Jarmon saarella 52 v concert runs along Saari's adventurous and varied career path, growing from sensitive acoustic moments to volcanic rhythm. In addition Emma Salokoski, Timo Lassy, Samuli Kosminen, Tommy Lindgren, Anna-Mari Kähärä, Kie von Hertzen, Niko Kumpuvaara, Atte Kilpeläinen and Marzi Nyman will take the stage. Contemporary dance is performerd by dance theater Sivuun Ensemble and Willman Dance Company, as well as child performers from Helsinki Dance Institute.
The proceeds of the concert will be directed to the activities of Protect Children. Launched in January 2020, the association aims to prevent all forms of sexual violence against children and to make the voices of victims heard. The association is led by Nina Vaaranen-Valkonen, an experienced specialist in the prevention of sexual harassment and sexual violence against children.
